1. Sign Up via Email

To create an account using your email address:

Step 1: Select 'Sign up for an account'
Step 2: Add a profile photo
Step 3: Enter your choice of Username, Password, City, and Email Address
Step 4: Tap on 'Create my account' and you're ready!

Your account will be created immediately and you’ll be logged in to your new brand new account.

2. Sign Up via Facebook

To create an account using Facebook, you’ll need to have a verified Facebook account. Here are the steps:

Step 1:Select 'Continue with Facebook'

Step 2:You'll be able to choose to sign up using details from your Facebook app (if you have it installed), or by manually entering your Facebook credentials. To be sure, we recommend selecting 'Log in with Phone Number or Email Address' to sign up with the intended Facebook account

Step 3:Then, select 'Log in' and depending on the username availability, you may be redirected to a page for you to change your username

For future logins, simply tap on 'Continue with Facebook'.

3. Sign Up via Gmail

If you have an existing Google Mail account or want to sign up for one, simply follow the steps below:

Step 1: Select the Google option on the app home screen. When prompted, just sign in to your existing Google+ account or create a new one.

Step 2: You should receive a verification email from us to verify your account. You’ll be required to verify your account in order to sell on the marketplace.

For future logins, simply tap on the Gmail option.

One of the easiest things to do at 2nd Hand Mall is to SELL! Here's a guide on how to sell your first item here at 2nd Hand Mall:

Step 1: Launch the app

Step 2: Select 'Sell' (the '+' icon)

Step 3: You'll be given the option to either take a photo on the spot or select a photo from your gallery. You can take/choose up to 10 photos.

Step 4: Fill in all the required fields on the form

Step 5: Select "List it!" at the end of the form

Your item will then be posted in the marketplace! Your new item will be placed right at the top of the selected category.

2nd Hand Mall is primarily a platform that allows buyers and sellers to connect through second hand sales. We provide the opportunity for both our buyers and sellers to come to an agreement as to which payment method would be most suitable for both parties. As such, the method of payment made will be decided upon by buyers and sellers themselves. Here are a few suggested methods to receive payment:

- Cash on delivery/Meet-up
- Credit/Debit Card

Turn your images into shop-worthy photos

1.   Make it the centre of attention

-   Allow buyers to know what you are selling at a glance. No guesses needed.

2.   Good Lighting = Good Photo

-   Use sunlight to your advantage.

3.   Angles matter!

-   Take many angles of your product so that buyers can see more details of your product.

-   When taking a photo, tap on the area you want to focus on

Product photos are the first thing that catches the buyer’s attention when they browse the marketplace. The power to attract a crowd to view your listing at 2nd Hand Mall is in your hands, well literally because you have to take the photos of your item!

Here are the top tips that would make your listing pretty:

1.  Take multiple photos to showcase your item

2nd Hand Mall now supports up to 10 photos. Showcase your listing’s different angles, details, defects if any, show the item's box and if you have the original receipt, it will help too!

• •  Take a picture of your product in its natural setting (e.g. if it’s a shoe, show how it looks like on your feet with jeans on)
• •   Show buyers how they can use your product (e.g. take a picture of your juicer with fruits in it so buyers immediately know how they can use it)
• •   Showcase your item at different angles (e.g. snap the front and back of a t-shirt to show how it looks)
• •   Showcase your item’s details, used marks (e.g snap a photo of corners of your phone to showcase it’s usage marks)

2.  Keep it simple and in the centre.

Taking your photos against a simple background is the best way to make your item stand out! You can also use an interesting texture (e.g. wood, marble, concrete) as your backdrop

• •  Don’t distract buyers with unnecessary things in your photo, display what you sell in your cover photo

3.  Keep it in Focus

Ensure your photos are perfectly focused to capture every detail. Simply tap and hold (where your item is) to lock the focus on your camera and snap away!

4.  Use Good lighting

Lighting is one of the most critical elements of great product photography.If you practise and experiment with good lighting, your photos will turn out spectacular.

• •  Set up close to your window: For objects small enough to fit in your house, have your window 90 degrees to the left/right to your product.
• •  Avoid direct or harsh sunlight: Don’t place your object directly in front of your window or take photos during the noon or you’ll get poorly lit pictures.

5.  Don’t use stock photos

Unless your item is a pre-order, avoid using stock images. Buyers would usually want to see the actual condition of your item and request for more photos through chat. By using non-stock photos, you’ll cut down your selling time by half and make your sale that much quicker!

To buy an item, simply select the listing you're interested in, followed by the “Chat” button.

In your chat conversation with the seller, you can now start asking the seller more questions about the item, request for more photos, and more on details of how the deal will proceed.

As 2nd Hand Mall is a marketplace for buyers and sellers to connect, users are free to decide on the kind of arrangements that they prefer or suits them best. Here are a few suggestions on how to carry out deals:

Once details of the deal have been confirmed and agreed upon by both users, proceed to make an offer for the item.

To make an offer, simply perform the steps outlined below:

In the chat with the seller, select "Make Offer"
Then, select the price and enter the price agreed upon (if it's not the stated price)
Select "Make Offer"
Select "Submit Offer" to confirm, and you're done!

Upon the seller’s acceptance of your offer, both you and the seller can now leave a review for each other to share your transactional experience!
